Weight Control

Weight Management

Some emerging research suggests that eating oats may help control appetite. The soluble fiber in oats and oat bran absorbs a considerable amount of water, significantly slowing the digestive process down. The result in a person is to feel full longer.

A number of clinical studies have evaluated dietary fiber, which has led to the support of some fiber sources. Fibers that are supported include those that has significant amounts of soluble fiber, such as oat products.

Both soluble and insoluble fibers are essential to weight management and it is important to understand the difference between the two types. Insoluble fiber (up to 22% in OatWell oat bran) helps to pomote regularity. Soluble fibre (also up to 22% in OatWell oat bran) helps to lower blood cholesterol levels and may help maintain healthy blood sugar levels within a normal range.  Emerging research suggests that eating oats may help to control appetite. To the extent that feeling full prevents one from taking in more calories, which contribute to weight loss.

More studies based on OatWell oat bran are currently underway to further assess the impact of eating oat foods as a mean to control weight.
